7.2 Manage Safety
 Ensures a safe training environment
 Ensures that the required equipment meets safety requirements
 Communicates evacuation procedures
 Ensures a safe operating environment e.g for aircraft, WX, fuel Identifies hazards and manages them
 Creates an appropriate safe learning environment
 Identifies and takes appropriate action to prevent physical or mental stress
 Intervenes when required for safety
 Transfers control of aircraft or equipment safely
 Intervenes when required for safety appropriately at the correct time e.g verbally or taking control
 Recommences training as soon as practicable (after any safety intervention)

7.3 Manage the Trainee
 Understands trainees

7.4 Prepare the Training Environment
 Designs training
 Explains why the training is needed
 Ensures the training is logistically structured (where there is a need for the instructor to design training programs)
 Ensures the training is realistic and relevant
 Ensures there are specific and measurable objectives
 Ensures realism in choice of scenarios
 Ensures adequate facilities and equipment
 Ensures the facilities are scheduled and adequate to meet the learning outcome objectives
 Ensures that the physical environment is suitable for learning
 Ensures environment and conditions exist for the training objectives
 Ensures that the equipment is suitable, adequate and serviceable
 Arranges appropriate airspace for the required training, if applicable

7.5 Continuously Improve Performance

7.6 Conduct Training
 Establish and maintain credibility
 Demonstrates an exemplary role model’s behavior ( meaning the behaviors expected in the technical role being trained, according to the competencies and related KSA)

 Demonstrates respect for organisational goals and requirements ( SOPs, dress code, grooming, appearance, acceptable personal conduct etc)
 States clear objectives and clarifies roles for the training or evaluation being
 Establishes and maintains an atmosphere of mutual respect

 Stimulates and sustains trainee’s interest
 Sequences and paces instructions appropriately
 Uses the voice effectively ( e.g Tempo, Volume, pitch etc)

7.9 Trainer Competency Grading Criteria
 The instructor performed “Extremely Well” by always demonstrating most of the
performance criteria when required, in an exemplary manner.
 The instructor performed “Very Appropriately” by regularly demonstrating most of the performance criteria when required
 The instructor performed “Adequately” by regularly demonstrating many of the
performance criteria when required
 The instructor performed at a “Marginal Level”, by occasionally demonstrating some of the performance criteria when required
 The instructor’s performance was “Not Appropriate”, and rarely demonstrated any of the performance indicators when required.
